Our Family of Churches
Sojourn Heights Church is one local church within Sojourn Houston, which is a family of neighborhood churches seeking to share Jesus with our neighbors for the glory of God and the good of our city. Sojourn Houston churches are marked by shared beliefs, a shared mission and vision, shared values and a shared philosophy of ministry (the Neighborhood Parish).
Our Neighborhood Parishes
As a church, Sojourn Heights is organized into groups called neighborhood parishes, which we often refer to as the "backbone" of all that we do at Sojourn. Historically, the word "parish" has been used to refer to a geographic area with a minister. At Sojourn we believe the bible teaches that all Christians are called to be ministers of reconciliation. The reason we call them Neighborhood Parishes is they are groups of men and women seeking to minister to our neighborhood. The way we aim to do that is to simply live life together, love and serve one another, and love and serve our neighbors.
At Sojourn, our pastors oversee the doctrine, discipline, and direction of the church. These men may or may not be paid by the church, but they share the responsibility of shepherding our church with wisdom and integrity (Ephesians 4:1-16, 1 Peter 5).
We are committed to providing Sojourn's essential operations with a quiet excellence that reflects the character and nature of our God. The following staff members serve in their positions in either a full-time or part-time capacity:
As Sojourn Heights' Pastor of Equipping and Mission, Drew's primary focus is to work towards seeing the Heights saturated with healthy neighborhood parishes that focus on making disciples, multiplying parishes, and planting churches.
As Sojourn Heights' Executive Director, Andrew's primary focus is to effectively implement Sojourn’s vision. He provides leadership to the staff, structure to ministry processes, and oversees the general administration and operation of the church.
As Sojourn Heights' Director of Connections, Charlotte is primarily responsible for connecting visitors and rooting covenant members into our local church body. She also oversees our Hospitality and Justice & Mercy Team.
In addition to the Pastors and Staff, Sojourn's deacons are ordained to serve in various roles within our church (Acts 6:1-6, 1 Timothy 3:8-13). Our team of deacons is constantly growing, so we have not listed them here by name. They serve in roles such as Neighborhood Parish leader, Sunday ministry team leader, and non-pastoral staff.
